BioIT is the center for the development and implementation of IT technologies for therapy and rehabilitation.
The background of our products is the principle of biological feedback (biofeedback), which, with the help of technical solutions, allows you to learn how to regulate body functions that are usually not subject to conscious control, or are poorly controlled due to a pathological condition.
Modern environments of biofeedback include a computer game, where motivation is determined by the elements of the game process, as well as virtual and augmented reality, which generate a variety of conscious reactions.
Today, for customers are available:
The software and hardware solution Phantom allows to see phantom limbs (lost limbs that a person continues to feel) and control them using the muscles of the stump.
The user, through the webcam, can see himself, the lost limb and its movements on the monitor as if in a mirror. A virtual limb can also be viewed through a virtual/augmented reality headset on a smartphone.
The goal of the solution is to get rid of phantom pain (pain that occurs in lost limbs) and perform phantom impulse gymnastics (movements and stretching of missing limbs).
The project uses the principles of visual and biological feedback, implemented with augmented reality and a device for recording muscle contraction force.
Advantages over mirror therapy:
Mirror visual feedback (MVF) a simple non-invasive technique for the treatment of two disorders that have long been regarded as permanent and largely incurable; chronic pain of central origin (such as phantom pain) and hemiparesis following a stroke. A host of subsequent studies were inspired by these findings—utilizing visual feedback conveyed through mirrors, virtual/augumented reality or, to some extent, even through intense visualization (which would be expected to partially stimulate the same neural circuits as the ones activated by MVF).
Biological feedback, or biofeedback, is a method which allows learning how to regulate body functions that are usually not subject to conscious control or are poorly controlled due to a pathological condition.
Еlectromyographic (EMG) biofeedback is the display of additional information about the state of muscle tone in an accessible form.
To implement biofeedback, chose a physiological indicator that characterizes the function of the body, intended for correction or rehabilitation: heart rate, electrical activity of the skin, EMG amplitude, EEG rhythms. It is measured by a suitable device and visualized for the user in the form of image and sound. The feedback loop strengthens the perception of actions, or even becomes the only source of information about them. This allows the user to voluntarily change the value of the selected indicator within the set limits, and thus to regulate the desired function. At the same time, unlike other methods, biofeedback gives the user the opportunity to be an active participant in the rehabilitation process, and the nervous system - a potential opportunity to influence a wide range of processes that cannot be affected under normal conditions.
MyoGames - the solution created to implement gaming biofeedback for rehabilitation and therapeutic purposes.
Currently, the product includes three arcade-style computer games: Aviator, Wolf and Rabbit, and Winter Rush. Games can be controlled using the force of muscle contraction, which is registered by a gaming EMG device.
